Migration from old aTimeLogger
Move your data from the original aTimeLogger app to aTimeLogger Pro. You can keep the old app installed and go back to it if needed.
For Registered Users
If you had an account in the old aTimeLogger, it works in the new app too:
- Install aTimeLogger Pro
- Open the app
- On the welcome screen, tap Sign In
- Enter the email and password of your aTimeLogger account
- Your data downloads to the new app
Requirements:
- The same email and password as in the old app
- An internet connection
- Premium Sync, to keep your devices in sync after that — see Sync
For Non-Registered Users
If you used aTimeLogger without an account, move your data with a backup file.
Step 1: Create Backup in Old App
- Open the old aTimeLogger
- Go to More → About
- Tap Create backup
- Choose where to save the file and tap Save. The file name ends with
.atl2bkp
Step 2: Transfer Backup File
- Same phone: nothing to do. The new app opens the file from where you saved it
- New phone: save the backup to Google Drive in Step 1, or copy the file to the new phone in any other way
Step 3: Restore in New App
- Install aTimeLogger Pro and open it. On the welcome screen, tap Skip: restoring works only without an account
- Go to More → Backup/Restore
- Tap Restore backup
- Pick the
.atl2bkpfile - Confirm with Restore backup. Everything in the new app is replaced with the data from the backup
- When Restoring... disappears, your data is in the app
If you are already signed in, sign out first in More → Account.
What Gets Migrated
From a backup file:
- Activity types and groups, with their names, colours and icons
- All activities, with their intervals and comments
NOT migrated from a backup file:
- Goals — create them again in the new app
- Settings — set the app up again
Signing in with your account brings everything that is synced, goals included.
Troubleshooting Migration
Nothing happens after you pick the file:
- The file name must end with
.atl2bkp. If it was renamed, rename it back
The app says "Error during restore":
- Create a new backup in the old app and try again
