FAQ
Q: What's the difference between pause and stop? A: Both save the time tracked so far as an interval in History. A paused activity stays on the Activities tab, so you can resume it and add more intervals to it. A stopped activity leaves the Activities tab.
Q: How do occurrence types work? A: Occurrence types track count instead of time. One tap logs one occurrence (e.g., "Took medicine" counts instances, not duration).
Q: Can I track multiple activities simultaneously? A: Yes! Set "Action on start" to "None" in settings, or use '+' button to start additional activities.
Q: Why is my total time more than 24 hours per day? A: You track activities at the same time, and with Intersections in statistics off each of them counts in full. Turn the setting on to count the overlap once — see Overlapping records.
Q: Where did the Pie and Daily total views of the History tab go? A: They are now one Statistics screen: the pie and the bars on one card, switched in its corner. To get the old views back, turn on Settings → History → Old statistics screens.
Q: Why does the change against the previous period show +100%? A: The type, group or tag has no time (or count) in the previous period, so any value in the current period is shown as +100%.
Q: Why doesn't the app add my sleep or workouts from Health Connect automatically? A: The app shows a card and adds the activity only when you tap Add, so nothing appears in your log without your OK. Cards are checked when you open the app. Older sessions are in More → Health Connect → To review. Also check that sleep or the workout type is mapped to an activity type in the Health Connect settings.
Q: How do I recover deleted activities? A: Restore a backup made before you deleted them, or contact support: More → About → Contact support.
Q: What's the difference between groups and tags? A: Groups organize types hierarchically (folders). Tags are flexible labels that cross-cut types and enable filtering.
Q: Why aren't my widgets updating? A: Disable battery optimization for aTimeLogger in Android settings. System may delay updates to save battery.
Q: Can I export my data? A: Yes. Export your records to CSV or HTML from the History tab — see Filters and Export.
Q: How do recurring todos reset? A: Recurring todos marked complete show as dimmed but stay visible. They reset at midnight if scheduled for the next day.
Q: What's the difference between per-day and per-activity goals? A: Per-day splits multi-day activities (like sleep) across days. Per-activity tracks the full session regardless of day boundaries.
Q: Can I use the app without subscription? A: Yes. Tracking, history, goals, todos and widgets work without one. Premium adds:
- Pomodoro and the Countdown timer
- Statistics: the bars, counting occurrences, statistics by tags and by custom fields, and the Blocks view
- Filters: more than two saved filters
- Types and goals: occurrence types, occurrence goals, tags on activity types, and colored icons
- Tags: renaming and deleting tags
- History of a type, tag or field: moving to earlier periods
- Todos: starting an activity or logging an occurrence straight from a todo
- Health Connect: sleep and workouts on your activities
- Calendar: copying activities into your phone's calendar
- Settings: icons per row, day start, the app language, the Black theme, and hiding groups on the Activities tab
Syncing your data between devices needs the Premium Sync plan — see Sync.
Q: How do I switch from old aTimeLogger? A: See Migration section. Either sign in with existing account or restore backup file.
